2026 Projects

How is it possible we’re now in 2026? Even writing out the year feels strange, like we shouldn’t be this far into the 2000s. 26 years since we celebrated 2000! Time goes by so very quickly.

If you’ve followed me long, you may recall I set goals every year and work to pursue them. I call them projects. I’ve kept goals on this blog since 2020:

Each year, I pick out several projects and set goals around them. Over the years, I’ve learned ways to tweak and fine tune the methods I use, but you can get a general idea about what I do here.

This year, I’m focusing on only three goals. A writing goal, fitness goal, and blogging goal. I’m hoping this will help me to better reach my goals without overwhelming myself or taking on too much.

Writing:

By 12/31/2026, I will maintain a consistent writing and revision routine that moves at least one book towards submission for publication, completing this routine at least 80% of the time, as measured by a habit tracker.

I’ve been able to build a strong writing routine the past few years, and I want to keep this going. I hope to get something published, but I also know when I put too much pressure on myself to do so, it backfires.

Fitness:

By 12/31/2026 I will practice daily wellness activities (physical fitness, mental health wellness, etc.) via mini-sessions throughout the day for at least 30 minutes 70% of the time, as measured on a habit tracker.

2025’s fitness routine worked out very well, and I want to continue to grow and improve the routine.

Blogging:

By December 31, 2026 I will publish a blog post and/or podcast at least 1x per week, as measured by a habit tracker weekly.

2025 was a rough year for blogging. I’m hoping to be able to change that this coming year.
