2025 Project Reflection

If you’ve followed my blog for long, you’ll know that every year since about 2020, I’ve posted my projects for the coming year on this blog. You can find my goals from 2020 going into 2021 here: 2020 Goals, and my goals from 2021, going into 2022 here: 2021 Goals.. 2023 goal are here: 2023 Goals, 2024 Goals here, and the goals for this year here (2025). Every year, I set goals in the form of Projects. I’ve learned a lot about setting and pursing goals the past few years, and it’s changed the way I view my goals and how I set them over time. You can learn more about that here. This process has been fine tuned and adjusted over time, but you can get a general idea from that post.

2025 was an extremely difficult year for my husband Ben and I. More on that to come in a year-end post. The events of this year impacted my ability to pursue my goals in the way I normally would. I also tried tracking them electronically this year instead of on paper, like I normally do. That was a massive fail that I should have abandoned months ago, but tried to stick with it.

As a result, the actual data that I normally have for goals is very limited. So the results are based off of the few measurements I do have available to me. (I normally have an entire system for tracking my goals from day to day that gets analyzed and adjusted regularly, but it was just a year.)

Here are my goals/ projects from last year and how they went:

By December 31, 2025, I will write/edit in a series of my choice 6/7 days a week, or 86% of the time.

As I stated above, it was a rough year, and I did not track my goals well at all. However, with my writing goal, I did write most days. (My writing software does track my Word Count.) I:

  • Wrote over 200,000 words this year.
  • Had 2 months where I wrote “negative” amounts because of editing.
  • Worked within three different series, primarily 1 but also a little in a couple of others.

With that in mind, I think it’s safe to say I met this goal!

By December 31, 2025, I will complete at least 6 mini-habits of exercise 5/7 days per week by incorporating those sessions into times throughout the day, or 71% of the time as measured weekly. (30 minutes minimum daily.)

With the fitness goal, I also did not track this. However, I did lose some weight and upped how many steps I averaged daily. I struggled to build this into a regular routine 5/7 days a week, so I don’t think I can say I actually met this goal, but I made significant progress.

By December 31, 2025, I will blog at least 3+ times a week, (43%+) and do a podcast weekly, except for Holidays/breaks. MAL- 3 times a week, TFNC- Monthly; TrFNC- Make a plan and stick with it with 75% accuracy.

With the blogging goal, I really didn’t do well at all. I only blogged a few times, and it was very irregular. I did not do a podcast at all. Like the first two projects, I did not track this goal well either.

By December 31, 2025, I will have implemented and carried out themes for each day, revolved around hobbies, 2/7 days, 29% of the time, as measured weekly.

With the hobby goal, I did not track this goal either. I also did not carry out themes for different days of the week, which means I didn’t meet this goal at all. I did however increase how much I am enjoying various hobbies, and was able to begin to get a new music area set up.

Overall Reflections:

This year was rough. Although I only met 1/4 goals, I came close to meeting a second and made progress on 1 other goal. Hopefully next year will be better! Next year:

  • I plan to return to a paper tracking system instead of digital.
  • I’m combining fitness and hobbies as one project, as a combination of mental and physical health.

This year is a great example of how progress is still progress, even when we don’t meet goals. Am I disappointed that I missed so many goals? Of course! But I also know that life sometimes throws us curveballs, and I can either choose to let this stop me from future goals, or choose to move forward, knowing I learned a lot this year, as God carried us through so many challenging situations, and helped me to make progress on goals despite what was happening around me. That’s something to be celebrated.
